How we started
Little Box Charitable Corp came into existence through the President, Astra Bester's experiences whilst working voluntarily in the South African Police Services.
She saw many areas where help was needed, and this included empowering the people to become better citizens and have better lives.
Why we have requirements for our donees
Whilst charities are great, Astra has seen many donees relying on charity handouts - and the donees becoming reliant on them - not out of desperation, but because the donees found it easier to receive handouts than to become empowered. Astra realized that the problem of poverty was becoming greater.
